Gift cards and promo codes are certificates issued by the travel company which can be used by customers as a form of payment.
Gift cards and promo codes have several purposes:
Promotions: The travel company can issue promo codes as part of a promotional event or sale, and towards this purpose you can define a related code which customers can use when redeeming the card (For example, MadridNow, MadonnaTour, or Fifa2018).
Travel Product: Gift cards can be purchased by B2E customers. These gift cards will have a numerical code, which the customer can use when redeeming the gift card. When purchasing a gift card, a receipt will be issued for the customer.
Travel Benefit: You can authorize B2E users to grant gift cards as travel benefits to customers in travel files that meet the parameters you define, such as service type, service attribute, passenger attribute, or destination.
Repay: When a customer is owed money, you can choose to offer them a gift card, rather than a cash refund.
Gift cards and promo codes can be issued as a fixed amount, or as a percentage of the total price the customer needs to pay.
In the B2E, B2B and B2C selling channels, gift cards and promo codes are redeemed at the end of the booking process, in the Booking Details page. In the B2E selling channel, gift cards and promo codes can also be redeemed in the travel file.
In the B2E Accounting section, under Receipt, the option Promo Code / Gift Card can be used as a form of payment. This payment will be validated exactly as it is done during the booking process. |
To work with gift cards and promo codes, in the database definitions, you need to activate this feature. After gift cards and promo codes are activated, you will need to define the default definitions, such as which currencies a gift card and promo codes can be issued, the default expiration dates, and the income account to be used. You can also define a discount for the gift card purchaser so that for example, gift cards with a value of 100 USD can be purchased for 90 USD.
In the Administration Tools, gift cards and promo codes are issued in the Issue Gift Card module. This module is used primarily for issuing promo codes in large quantities (as part of a promotion or sale, or to a group of passengers). In this module, you can define that the gift cards and promo codes can only be redeemed for specific service types, in specific website configurations, or during specific dates. With gift cards for flights (both stand-alone and as part of a package), there are additional optional parameters: class, fare type, origin, destination, airline, and alliance.
In the B2E Reservations System, gift cards can be issued for individual passengers from the Dashboard, or from the travel file. In the travel file, the gift card is issued either as a travel benefit, or in the Accounting section as a repay to the customer. In B2C websites, gift cards can be sold through a deep link.
Gift cards and promo codes can be tracked and managed using the Gift Card Management module. In this module you can generate a gift card report, using a wide range of parameters, such as issue date, expiration date, value, and currency. You can void and reactivate the gift cards and promo codes displayed in the report, on an individual basis, or you can select gift cards and promo codes, and void or reactivate the entire group with a single click.
The Gift Card Management module can display up to 1,000 gift cards and promo codes.
There is also an SSRS Gift Card Report, which is only used for reporting purposes. This report can display an unlimited number of gift cards and promo codes.
