Insurance is a form of risk management primarily used to hedge against the risk of a contingent, uncertain loss. Insurance is defined as the equitable transfer of the risk of a loss, from one entity to another, in exchange for payment. An insurer, or insurance carrier, is a company selling the insurance; the insured, or policyholder, is the person or entity buying the insurance policy. The amount to be charged for a certain amount of insurance coverage is called the premium

IV. Constraints
The Destination is a mandatory field when defining an insurance contract.
With insurance, the destination is usually Worldwide.
Occasionally, there may be situations which require additional destinations,
such as Europe.
Go to Setup - Geography - Destinations, and search for a Worldwide destination.
If there is no Worldwide destination, create a new one.
Destination Name: Worldwide
Service Type Options: Insurance
For a full list of components, see the price components table
Go to Setup - Price Components.
It is recommended to define two levels of base Insurance Price Components: Main and Supplement according to the following table.
Price Component Name |
Component level |
Component Type |
Default options |
Per Person |
Main |
Person |
Per person + Per day |
Baggage, Ski, Bicycle, Challenged/hobby etc. |
Supplements |
Auxiliary |
Per person, or, Per person + Per day * Insurance Partial period for Supplement price component |
Create a new price component.
According to the table above, fill in the following fields: Price Component Name, Component Level, and Component Type.
In the Service Type field, select Insurance.
Select the Default Options according to the table above.
For the Abbreviation, Display Order and Default Ages, see Insurance Price Components
Important. Each insurance price component should receive a unique Display order ID number. The price components are arranged in the Reservations System in the price-breakdown and the price-option lists according to the Display Order ID. The main price component should be number 1, and the supplements should follow this number. |
For Supplement price components with a date range, select Partial Period.
The Partial period option is for insurance supplement price components. By default this option is not selected, and this option cannot be edited in the price list. The Partial Period option is used with Per-day supplement Price components.
The Partial Period option enables:
Selecting a date range when selecting the price component in the booking process
In the travel file, defining a date range through Actions – Edit transaction – Insurance details tab.
You need to create a new insurance supplier in the system. When creating the supplier, you need to be logged in as TBA.
Add an Insurance service with the following details:
Service Type: Insurance
Supplier Income/Type: Comm. Plus VAT
Commission: As agreed with the supplier (for example, 40%)
Method of Payment: Self-ticketing.
Value date: Issue date
Address To: Supplier Paid
Paid By: Office
Print amount: Yes
Issue one policy for different family names: By default this option is cleared, and it should remain cleared. If this option is selected an STK is issued for a transaction with different family names.
Verify passenger ID numbers before issuing insurance policies: Select this option to have the system verify that all passengers have an ID number before issuing insurance vouchers for an insurance transaction.
Ticket Stock Definitions:
Ticket Prefix – Agency number 6 digits
Update Ticket counter – STK counter must be 6 digits when the first one is different than zero
Last Ticket taken – for display purposes only
Ticket Template – Template must be uploaded
Report Policy – check box defining whether the XML should be reported
URL – Address used to report XML (URL to which the XML should be reported)
After defining a destination, price components and a supplier, you can create an insurance contract.
Market: All
Net currency: USD
Gross currency: USD
Season: Define one season (all year) for a 10 year period.
Price level: Regular
Price components: According to the price components table
You need to select, which price components can be viewed in the Reservations systems.
Go to Setup - Website Definitions, and select a B2E configuration.
In the navigation pane, select Content - Services - Insurance.
In the Query expander, in the Price Components section, in the Adult field, select Per Person.
In the General expander, in the Default Destination field, select Worldwide.
There is no option to define a visible lookup, and no need to do so because the insurance service is defined only for the worldwide destination, and therefore it is the only destination that needs to be displayed.
When adding an insurance transaction to an existing travel file, the default insurance destination in the Reservations System query is determined as follows:
If the travel file destination is associated with the insurance service type, the default destination is the travel file destination.
If the travel file destination is not associated with the insurance service type, the default destination is the default insurance destination defined in Setup - Website Definitions - Content - Service - Insurance.
If there is no default destination defined in the website definitions, the default destination in the insurance query is All.
The age displayed in the reservation is taken from the age defined in the price component.
There is no option in the booking process to include the age in the search query.
The system searches for the average age. For example, when searching for a child defined as 2-120, the system sends the search query for the average age of (2+120)/2, and displays preliminary pricing
The actual price is calculated after the passenger’s age is defined in the travel file, in the Passenger Details page
Supplements defined in the price-list as Default are displayed in the Price Option List without the check-box option since they cannot be unselected.
Date range fields are added to supplements defined as Per Day + Partial Period.
The supplement is set by default for the full insurance date range.
Supplements that are not set as defaults can be selected.
It is possible to change the date range for the supplement. However, it is only possible to shorten the existing date period.
Changes that are done in the supplement date range are automatically calculated in the total price.
With optional supplement components, it is possible to change the amount of passengers. Changing the value displays a message requiring the travel agent to select the relevant passengers.
As you have changed the number of passengers, click Select Passengers for Supplement and select the passengers to whom this supplement will be added.
Clicking on Select Passengers for Supplement opens a dialog box where you can select the passengers who require the supplement.
The Insurance Details tab lists all the transaction supplements selected from the price-list. The tab can be accessed through Actions – Edit Transaction.
Passengers Column: This column lists the number of passengers covered by each price component. Hovering over the i reveals a tooltip displaying the passengers’ name(s) as long as there is more than one passenger on the transaction.
Start/End Date and Duration: If the supplement is for a partial period, the columns indicate the relevant dates and can be manually updated.
The start date can not be modified backwards.
If the date range of one of the legs (the first row) or one of the supplements is defined with a partial period, the price is refreshed automatically when saving or exiting the tab.
Regardless the start date in the travel file cannot be manually changed to earlier than what is defined in the price component.
It is not possible to modify the dates of the insurance's main component. If changes are required, you need to create a new insurance transaction.
With Manual insurance transactions:
If the travel file does not contain start and end dates, by default the Insurance transaction start and end dates are empty.
If the start and end dates of the travel file occur in the past, by default the insurance transaction start and end dates are the current date.
If the start and end dates of the travel file occur in the future, by default the insurance transaction start and end dates are the travel file dates.
If the travel file start date occurs in the past, and the end date occurs in the future, by default the insurance transaction start date is the current date, and the end date is the travel file end date.
In the Passenger column, there is a checkbox next to the quantity, which can be used to change the passengers who are using this supplement.
Important.

Beneficiary - Passenger & Pricing (tab)
Clicking on this option launches a text box allowing you to write the beneficiaries information
Beneficiaries will be saved and displayed in the insurance policy
When issuing an insurance ticket the ticket is issued directly to the passenger. When sending the policy, the send page dialog box is initialized with the e-mail address of the passenger, and also, if relevant, the e-mail address of the travel agent/corporate client.
Insurance price lists can be replaced in the travel file. If no voucher or invoice have been issued for the transaction, in the row of the insurance transaction, you can click Actions - Replace Price List to open the insurance query page. In this page you can search for insurance products to replace the existing price list in the travel file.
There are a few constraints when issuing an insurance policy in a transaction (STK)
Issuing an STK once the service has already started displays the following message: A policy cannot be issued for a service that has already been started.
It is possible to prevent issuing an STK for x days before the service starts, it will be followed by the following message The policy cannot be issued more than ** days prior to the service.
It is not possible to issue an STK for the same passenger (name) twice in the same travel file. Attempting to do so displays the following message: A policy has already been issued for [passenger name] for this date period. Please modify the service dates.
You cannot issue a single STK for a transaction with passengers with different family names. Attempting to do so displays the following message: One insurance policy cannot be issued for passengers with different family names.
It is not possible to add an insurance service if the passenger age is missing for one of the passengers. Attempting to do so displays a dialog box with the passenger names and date of birth. You need to enter the date of birth for each passenger that is missing this information in order to continue and add the service.
The Cancel STK option is disabled if the Service start date expired.
