The PayPal Express Checkout is a payment gateway that can be implemented in the system (primarily in the B2B and B2C selling channels) to process payment using either a customer's credit card or PayPal account.
PayPal Express Checkout uses the redirect method. When this payment gateway is implemented, customers making payment by credit card will be redirected to the PayPal page to enter payment details. Once the payment transaction is completed, the customer is returned to the travel file in the system website.
Refer to the official PayPal site for current information on this payment gateway's features.
The ability to use PayPal as a payment gateway depends on:
The side receiving the payment: A system client
The side making the payment: A B2B or B2C customer of the system client
The payment amount and method depends on how each side is defined in PayPal.
PayPal has two types of business accounts:
Verified
Not Verified
System clients working with Paypal should be verified. Verified clients can clear up to $10,000 globally. Not verified clients can clear a lower amount, depending on the country ($2,500 in the United States). The verification process is done independently between PayPal and the system's clients.
These amounts are usually fixed, but can change depending on the country, credit card, or location of the user.
PayPal clients undergo the verification process when they open business accounts. The verification process is different for each country. Usually, this is a credit card confirmation.
If the B2B or B2C customers have a PayPal account, the payment conditions are determined according whether the account is verified or not verified.
If the B2B or B2C customers do not have a PayPal account, they are treated as a not verified account.
To allow customers who do not have a PayPal account to pay without registering on PayPal, the system clients need to activate the PayPal Account Optional option in their PayPal Account.
This option can be found in Profile - Website payment preferences - Payment account optional

The following credit cards are supported by PayPal Express Checkout: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover. This list is different for each country.
Payment in installments is not supported.
A receipt for a PayPal Express Checkout payment transaction cannot be cancelled in the system. To cancel a payment, you will need to first cancel the payment transaction in your company's PayPal account. The payment amount can then be returned to the customer after which a refund can be issued in the system.
In Setup - Website Definitions - Debit Terms, the option Debit for all services must be selected. All other invoice debit options will prevent the payment gateway from executing payment transactions.
An automatic transaction fee can be added to every credit card payment transaction. The transaction fee can be either an absolute amount or a percentage of the invoice amount. See Business Rules - Transaction Fee Policy - New Item for detailed instructions on how to create and apply a transaction fee.
Following the successful implementation of the PayPal Express Checkout, it is recommended to display the PayPal company logo in the footer of your website to inform customers that a reputable payment gateway is used in your website.
A selection of current logos can be accessed via the following link:

See Setup - Website Definitions - UI Design for instructions on how to display the logo in the website footer. Note that the footer must be defined in each relevant configuration and sub-configuration.
The amount the receipt is issued on, is the amount returned from Pele-card. If the gateway returns a different amount, this is registered in the Travel File log.
