Widgets

In computing, a widget is a small application that is installed and executed in a website. In the system, a widget is used to create a search pane for a product sold in the system. In this search pane, a search is performed for a product sold on a B2C site only. While a deep link is used to perform a search query with specific and constant parameters, a search executed in a widget will send a dynamic search query according to the parameters defined in the search pane.

Among various locations, the widget can be embedded in an affiliate website or Facebook page or used in a Google AdWords campaign. Used in these ways, a widget can help to provide additional marketing channels for offering products, thereby increasing sales.

Installing a web widget on a site includes the following steps:

  1. Copying HTML code (syntax) supplied by Galor.

  2. Defining values for the parameters in the syntax.

  3. Pasting the code, with values, in the appropriate place on the site.

The HTML page must be well-formed and include a doc type declaration, for example: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN">

It is recommended that an HTML developer execute this procedure. If required, please contact your Project Manager for additional assistance.

To access the widget generator, in the URL bar, after the name of your site, type: /widgets

Example: b2e-mytravelsite.660/UI_Net/widgets
