Pricing Per Market

The market functionality enables setting different prices for various types of customers. A market is a classification based on a common element, most notably nationality. A contract for a product can include one or more markets.

Examples of Markets: China, France, United States

A market can also be associated with a parent market. In cases when a price does not exist in the primary market, a parent market is used to locate the price.

Examples of Parent Markets (for the above markets): Far East, Europe, North America

In addition to the above, Market: ALL is the "root" market in each product contract that is searched when prices cannot be located in either the primary or parent market.

The booking process is initiated with the selection of the market to which the customer belongs. After a query is executed, prices for products are returned according to the price level of the relevant market.

Pricing Per Market Logic

  1. Primary and parent markets for both travel agents and direct customers are defined in Setup - Business Environment - Markets. The Display in Res. System check box must be selected only for the primary markets (not parent).

  2. Agent accounts (for B2B and B2E4B modes) are associated with the relevant markets as described in Editing the travel agent/corporate client markets. Note that a travel agent account can be associated with a market for two purposes:

    1. to apply business rules collectively to a group of travel agents rather than to each account individually (e.g. commission definitions).

    2. to provide capability for pricing according to the classification to which a customer belongs.

  3. The system's objective is to produce results for all price levels included in the contract for the product included in the query results. Therefore, all market levels in the contract (primary, parent, and All) are searched as described above.

  4. In B2E mode, in the query result, the price level name will be displayed together with its market.

  5. The Market field in Travel File Control - General Info will indicate the primary market selected for the query (regardless of the actual market of the transaction price).
