Translation is the when a word is literally taken from one language and rendered into another. For example, names of cities, and countries need to be literally translated. Localization is when content in a target language is adapted to more effectively convey a similar meaning or connotation in a target culture. Content that drives customer action, such as the Reservations System, advertisements, and branding need to be localized in order to adapt to the target culture. The system includes tools that allows you to do both.
The system is supported in multiple languages, and includes a translation tool and a localization tool, and the ability to translate through the Google API. Each time new content is added, you can use these tools to update the content of your website to reflect recent changes.

The Dictionary Builder is a localization tool that allows you to localize the Reservations System to a target culture, and can be used to translate or change the different words and phrases that appear in the menus, buttons, and other user interface fields.

There are a limited number of values that are hardcoded into the system that cannot be changed, such as the login page, or language names and flags. |
The Entry Translation module allows you to translate the database entries defined in the Setup section of the Administration Tools that appear in the various drop-down menus and search results, such as cities, destinations, hotels, price levels, etc.
The Google Translate API translates the Hotel Details in the Reservations System.

The Dictionary Builder is a tool that allows you to manually translate the pages of the Reservations System.
There are predefined dictionary files for all supported languages that contain a partial translation of the Reservations System interface. Initially, before launching the website the entire Reservations System is going to need to be translated.
Afterwards, when any change to the system is made, you can access the Dictionary Builder to see which words and phrases have been added to the Reservations System interface, and manually enter the relevant translation.
These changes can be saved as dictionary files which can be uploaded to the system later through the uploadable dictionary module, or, for B2E sites only, you can be apply the changes directly to the Reservations System.
When translating, you can update the original entries to reflect the most recent change. New values always appear in English. You can translate the new values, and you can also override existing values with new translations.
The Dictionary Builder does not allow you to translate values that are hardcoded into the system, and these values do not appear in the tool. For example, language names (Arabic Jordan)

The
Entry Translation
module allows you to translate the database
entries that are defined in the Setup
section of the Administration Tools.
These entries appear in the various drop-down
lists, and also in the search results that appear in the Reservations
System.
With hotels you can also translate the hotel details and Facilities information.
In this module, the original entries always appear in English.

The Google Translate API allows users to translate the Hotel Details page in the Reservations System.
In order to work with the Google Translate API, you will need to open an account with Google.
Google will bill you on this account each time a user clicks this button - even if the original description and translation are in the same language.
After translation is enabled, a Translate button appears in the Reservations System, in the Hotel Details page. When a user clicks this button the hotel description is replaced with the translated text.

The translation is not a replacement for the original text. There may be errors in Google's translation, and the user will be bound by the original text. A disclaimer to this effect is displayed below the translation. |
